Purple Mouth

At Avery's 4 month check-up on Friday the doctor noticed that she had the beginning signs of a slight case of Thrush (a yeast infection in babies mouths). They coated her mouth with an antifungal medicine that they said would stain her mouth (and anything she drooled or sucked on) bright purple. Thankfully, it only took about 24 hours to wear off.

Fun Day with Daddy!!!

Alex and Avery got to spend lots of quality time together today for Father's Day. They spent some snuggly time in bed this morning (after the hail storm blew through Gretna).

Then we took the official Father's Day photo before we headed to breakfast.

After breakfast and a family trip to Bass Pro Shops, they spent some time playing on the floor. Avery has just started rolling over this week! (I have it on video - just have to figure out how to load it onto the blog to share with everyone.)

Daddy went to play a quick 9 holes of golf while Avery took her afternoon nap. When he got home, they spent the rest of the evening snuggled up on the couch watching the US Open.

This is probably the only time in her life that Avery will sit this contently while watching 4 hours of golf. :)

There was plenty of time for kisses during the commercial breaks.

My Future's So Bright....

Yes, Avery was laughing at mommy while I sang her this classic 80's tune.

Fun in the Sun

The weather was absolutely perfect today so we decided to slather on the WaterBabies SPF50 and head outside for some fun in the sun. Avery loves bathtime, so we weren't too surpised that she also loves her baby pool!

Hanging out in her Bumbo while Daddy fills the pool.

Hank thought that Alex was filling up the pool for him to drink out of and he was very confused when we put Avery in his big water bowl to play.

Testing the water - luckily daddy filled it half full with warm water from inside.

Getting sleepy...

...very sleepy!

We Survived!!!

Well it was pretty rough (for Mommy) but we managed to survive Avery's 1st day of daycare and my 1st day back at work. I didn't cry too much, but it was so hard to let go of her this morning, especially b/c she was so snuggly.

I couldn't get there fast enough after work to pick her up! The daycare ladies said that she is such a mellow baby and that she did really well on her first day. I am hoping that it gets a little easier each day...but talking with my other mom friends, it doesn't sound to promising.

Hangin with my girlfriends!

Avery has 2 baby girlfriends, Mia and Teagan, that were born 2 weeks after her (they were actually both born on the same day - March 5th).

This is a picture of Mia and her mommy Sarah with us - they are our next door neighbors. It has been fun to experience all the "firsts" with Sarah throughout our pregnancies and now motherhood. I am sure there will be many more blog posts with pictures of Mia and Avery playing together!

This is a picture of Avery and Teagan. Teagan's mommy Anne and I work together at NetShops...and...Teagan and Avery will be going to the same daycare - so we are almost certain that they will be best buds! :) The weather has finally started to cooperate so Anne and I have gone on several walks with the girls while we were on maternity leave. We are both dreading going back to work, but it will be nice to have eachother for moral support when we do.

Mother's Day - my new favorite holiday

I had the most wonderful 1st Mother's Day! We headed to SSC on Saturday night to spend the weekend with our Moms. We went out for a delicious brunch on Sunday with both of our parents and Alex's sister Erika and her son Keller. After brunch we went back to Marsha and Doug's house for cake and ice cream to celebrate Erika's birthday. I spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out with my Mom and Avery - we even managed to get in a good nap. :) And to top off the perfect day, we had Rosie's for dinner (the world's best pizza) before heading back home.
I would have to say that this is by far my new favorite holiday. I absolutely LOVE being a mom!!!

Avery & Grandma Marsha

Daddy was able to steal his baby girl away from Mommy, the Grandma's, and Aunt Erika for just a few minutes to enjoy a little cuddle time.

Such a big girl!

Our little girl is holding her head up so well now that we thought we would give her a break from all the tummy time and test out the Bumbo seat. She loves it!

Look at those big feet!

Hank is getting a little braver each day and actually layed down next to her while she was hanging out in her Bumbo. He is always very interested in what she is doing, but is gone in a flash if she makes any sudden moves.

Look at that lip

Mommy and Daddy are in big trouble with this pouty lip. Two seconds after this picture was taken, she was smiling like the happiest baby in the world.:)

2 Months Old

Avery turned 2 months old today! She had her first round of shots on Friday at her doctors appt. and we made it through with only a few tears. She weighed in at 10 lbs. 9 oz. and was 22 1/2 inches long, which puts her in the 50th percentile for her age.

Making Faces

Avery has really started to show off her personality this last week. She is especially happy when she first wakes up in the mornings (unlike her Mommy). I took a few pictures of her stretching and smiling routine this morning to share with all of you. Enjoy!

Avery's Baptism

We had Avery baptized last Sunday at our church here in Gretna. We were so blessed that our family and some of our closest friends could be here to help us celebrate such an important day in Avery's life.

Her Godparents are her Aunt Erika (Alex's sister) and her Uncle Jason & Uncle Mike (my two brothers).

My godparents, Aunt Mary & Uncle Elwyn, were able to share the day with us.

My friend Catherine was nice enough to be our designated photographer so that we could relax and enjoy the day without worrying about getting the perfect snapshots. Thanks Catherine!!
